自1989年1月硕士毕业留校至今一直从事高分子材料的改性及耐高温聚合物-聚酰亚胺的合成制备研究。1996年至1999年攻读在职博士,2007年在美国Akron大学聚合物科学系作访问学者。作为负责人,主持了2项国家863、3项国家自然基金等项目及1项国家973课题,完成几十项企业委托开发课题。作为主要完成人,获得了8项省部级以上的奖励,其中4项国家级奖励;发表学术论文200余篇,其中SCI收录140余篇;申请中国发明专利60余项,其中近40项授权。
